I've been having problems with my firewire since last summer. Maybe my camera was getting old? I suggest if u have an addon card for 1394 that you swap out for another one that is proven to work. The static members of NODE_DEVICE_EXTENSION that contain valid data are Tag, DeviceObject, and PortDeviceObject. thought i had it figured after connecting an external hard drive via firewire. I tried it and bang immediately the video camera came to life and is downloading quite happily.
