For whatever reason, and I am not suggesting it is a usable workaround for everyone, disabling indexing on the drive resolved the issue for me. When will there be a definite fix for this? I thought if it's working, then leave it alone. NOTE: We have noticed that when Microsoft has issued certain updates, it can cause Windows 7 to switch back to use the original 1394 OHCI Compliant Host Controller driver.

I have wasted so many time on this slow speed since I bought the Firewire card. How can Imake them work together at once ? Firewire 800 going to external HD running at 7200 rpm should do much better than what I am obtaining. I completely agree.
