It was working last April, I had Windows Vista. I tried it and bang immediately the video camera came to life and is downloading quite happily. Thanks for any advice! Apparently Microsoft have "improved" the 1394 driver for faster cards but now the older cards have problems. find this

It worked in a pre release of Win 7 but is broken in the final version. The 1394 port driver is bundled into the Ricoh 5 in one driver. We were trying to import video into Sony Vegas and Adobe Premiere, and we quickly found out that we couldn’t import video into the computer via the FireWire port. And now this simple driver fix made everything work perfectly.
